In light of the current virus outbreak there have been some changes to hospital policies and mine as well. Currently all Bay Area hospitals are limiting visitors. This means I will not be able to come up to your room to retrieve the placenta. So far, support persons have been allowed to bring the placenta to me at the hospital entrance. Please inform staff upon admission that you are having your placenta picked up after birth. Ask them about the current policy surrounding medical couriers pick ups. If they are unsure, ask them about the policy for cord blood and tissue banking pickups, as it should be the same.

Universal precautions have always been followed which limits the exposure for myself as well as cross contamination. In light of the current outbreak I will be adding a few measures. Previously, the transport kit insulated bag was returned to you to use if you wish. It will now be disposed of. All handling of your placenta has always been done while wearing personal protective equipment, including a mask, and my processing space and equipment is cleaned before and after each use with hospital grade disinfectants. Upon completing the processing of your placenta capsules, they will be returned to you promptly. Your finished capsules and packaging are only handled with gloved or sanitized hands. I wear a mask at all times during pickup, and delivery. In addition I will limit contact whenever possible. Payment is handled online and I can answer questions after delivery by phone, text, or video chat.

I am vaccinated for COVID-19.
